A modular ship-building game set in a hostile frontier — mine, refine, craft, and build your way across the sectors.
Norvalum: Modular Frontier is a 2D space sim from Fat Cheddar about building your own ship piece by piece and surviving on the resources you pull out of the frontier yourself. Attach thrusters, mining lasers, weapons, and cargo modules to a growing hull, then fly out into procedurally-charted sectors to harvest ore, fight off hostiles, and haul it all home to refine and craft the next upgrade.
There's no fixed ship you're stuck with — the ship builder lets you design your own layout, and the base builder lets you grow a foothold in the sectors you claim. It's still deep in development, with new systems (and a fair number of explosions) landing regularly — follow the devlog to see what's changing.
Piece together your ship from hulls, thrusters, mining lasers, weapons, and cargo modules on a grid-based builder.
Harvest ore and materials from asteroids and sectors, then refine what you collect into usable crafting resources.
Establish and grow a base to support your operation instead of running everything out of your cargo hold.
Defend your ship and cargo with projectile weapons, laser weapons, and beam weapons against the frontier's enemies.
Turn refined materials into new parts and upgrades, and outfit your ship for tougher sectors.
Return to town to trade with vendors, restock, and plan your next run out into the frontier.
